“We heard about AktivOrtho from its founders, Dr. Gerd Mueller (MD) and Ms. Gabrielle Seacy. Damien, my husband, loves jogging and running and has been doing it for years. However in 2013, his ankles were frequently becoming painful up to the point where this prevented him from running. I (Dominique) had back surgery (osteosynthesis) many years ago. I was frequently experiencing discomfort in my lower back, and thought I too should find opportunities to exercise to compensate for long hours seating in the office. Akshay, who is our physiotherapist at AktivOrtho, used some manual therapy techniques and got rid of our pain in a short time and then we started medical training therapy (MTT) with him.

I went to a fitness centre in Hong Kong a few years ago, but found it impersonal, industrial and crowded. I never liked the coach and quit after a few weeks. Akshay has been consistently, extremely professional, helping us on weekly basis. We have been feeling well coached, sometimes challenged to increase our performance and, at the same time, totally safe.

At AktivOrtho, the quality and care are world-class and so are the results. Damien has been able to run again as much as he likes. There is no tension or discomfort in my lower back anymore. Our postures have improved.

We have had subsequent assessments with Dr. Mueller and further therapy sessions with Mr. Arora; now our fitness levels are really very good.

Our kids saw us going there every week, and asked - ‘what about us?’ So we let them join AktivKids™ sessions at AktivOrtho. They are always looking forward to going to their weekly sessions. We are very happy as it complements the other sports that they are playing. It gives them all-weather activity which they find as full of fun, and most importantly, educates them about their body, sports and performance.

“Dominique was treated with some manual stretching to reduce the tension in her lower back whereas Damien went through a few sessions of myofascial releases and mobilisation for the ankle joint. After 2 weeks of manual therapy, they started a 2-on-1 medical training therapy program.

Their treatment started with a comprehensive functional body assessment followed by posture correction. The initial treatment was focussed on stabilising the joints and improving flexibility in the muscles for both of them.

After the first six weeks of AktivTraining™, a specific strength training program was introduced and continued for the next 12 weeks. The strength program mainly involved core strengthening and toning of the upper and lower limb muscles.

At present, they are both on an advanced level of medical fitness. They are performing comprehensive fitness sessions which involve stamina, endurance, flexibility, strength, balance and coordination. The type of exercises comprises of aerobic training, kick boxing and boot camp sessions.”
